DT80 restarted SW exception

We are recently running DT80 and noticed that the DT80 screen shows "DT80 restarted SW exception". I checked the manual and it mentioned that "This indicates a possible problem with the DT80 firmware. Contact dataTaker Technical Support if you see this message". I couldn't find the contact of technical support. Please help! Thanks!

Hi Fiona,

You need to check the logger service log in order to understand the cause of the SW exception. If you are using dEX 2.0, you can click the book symbol on the upper right corner of the screen. Choose "Service Log" and look at the "Event Log" and "Error Log" within that report. If possible you can post them.

I have tried factorydefaults commend. It doesn't seem to to work at all. The logger would disconnect with my computer after I send the command.

Now I am not able to update the program through DEX-2 anymore. Every time I tried to apply the changes to the logger DEX-2 would show nothing. The error message of SW exception would show up on the logger screen.

Please give me some advise.

Thank you!

Hi Fiona,

I had to delete your post due to a long entry. I can see you get a lot of drive A errors and exception c8610007. There are also several DHCP errors and power cycle events. While the last two seem OK since a week ago, the first two errors just started to give an issue.

Can you please try to format the logger and then reinstall the firmware? It would be a simple and quickest solution. Then you can work on addressing the issue one by one.

  • When reinstalling the firmware, if you can please use DeTransfer. Subsequently, when using DeTransfer, you need to use a non-USB firmware version.
  • Provide a fixed IP address to the logger to solve the DHCP errors.
  • Check the power connection to the logger and ensure a stable supply.
