Temperature reading error

Hello,
The DT80 logger is placed in a railcar to continuously measuring the temperature by thermocouple probes inside the refrigerator which is about -20C on the railcar. It sends the data through a modem to our ftp server so that we could remotely reads the temperatures. Since two days ago, we noticed that our thermocouple readings are "underrange" at the channels on CEM20 and "referror" on the main module. At this point, we are not able to access to the logger. What do you think could be the reason for these errors? Do you have an instruction for us to access to the logger remotely so that we could check the event log or reference temperature?

Hi Fiona,

Thermocouple reading in DT uses a temperature reading on the connection point to compensate for the new junction. The temperature reading is an RTD which we place in the PCB track, it will measure the track temperature and become the compensation reference.

If the reference is lost, you will not be able to read the thermocouple. It usually happens when a spike occurs in the circuit and affects the series of SSR in the logger. The affected SSR will cause the loss of reference reading.

Accessing the logger remotely will need an internet connection with a public IP address, or if you connect the logger to any existing LAN. Do you have any network connection in the railcar?

Best regards,
