Sleep mode and its handy exceptions of the DT8x series dataloggers works well when using an internal battery. This may not be the case when the hardware setup is more complex with external high capacity batteries, DC converters, additional logic, etc.
It would be useful to use WK input, not only for waking purposes but preventing the logger going to sleep by keeping the input in logical low by external logic or relay. This is not possible with FW 9.22 or earlier firmware.
Datataker does not check the input status of the WK before it's going to sleep which is quite silly. Instead of fully utilizing the potential of the WK input, the DT8x logger will generate a short redundant sleep period which reinitializes LCD with its backlight and Ethernet connection. Any ongoing configuration or download communications will fail despite the WK input level.
Please can you upgrade how the WK input works?
There’s not too many sleep mode exceptions in DT8x series. One of those useful exceptions is not available when powering the datalogger only externally. This external PSU could be a battery and it would be very useful to keep LAN connection alive constantly when the charger is a present or using LAN connection only during schedule in low power conditions. This kind of a configuration can provide FTP backup over Ethernet while maintaining a good battery life and full configuration/access support over Ethernet when AC or any other charging source is present.
