Hi all,

I'm having problem establishing a connection with my serial output device. It is an orientation sensor, and I have come to believe that the problem is related to its connection.

I was able to get my program to work once, but it was through tapping on the cable, shifting it a bit, etc. In the manual, it says that I should use a shielded twisted pair.

Where can I find that? H

I have an Applied Physics 543 orientation sensor connected to my DT800 serial channel. I followed the RS232 wiring scheme (p167 of 240 from the manual).

The manual for the sensor can be found here: http://www.appliedphysics.com/543_M.html.

I've tested the sensor by connecting it to my laptop's serial port and running a terminal program to communicate with it. In the terminal program, I

Dear Roger,

Thank you very much, for all the help that you have provided with, since I started using these forums. I appreciate your knowledge and your dedication to this important work!!!

I am using an Acer Aspire 1680 laptop with DT800 logger and Delogger4 Pro software now. Previously I was using an IBM NetVista computer with Rs232 port. I tried to use USB2.0 to Serial Rs232 adapter by

I try to connect the DT800 with a pressure sensor which has 2 wires (+) and (-) , excitation 10-28Vdc, and output: 4-20mA (current loop).

I set differential in Delogger, and plug in 2 wires to + and -accordingly. It gives me a very tiny value (-0.1543) as the output. do you know what goes wrong? to make the value fall between 4-20mA.

Thank you very much
Paul

With the price of larger capacity CF cards going down, using higher capacity cards (>2Gb) with the DT800 is desirable for my application.

Does dataTaker have plans to increase the memory capacity that is compatible with the DT800? Is there anyway to get around the firmware limitation?

Thanks,
aerosue

Dear Sir,

Please note that i am logging data at the rate of 1 data per 30 minutes.During this time is possible to detach the memory card (between two successive reading i.e. 30 mts) for say 10 mts from my DT800 and get the data downloaded to my laptop from the memory card.

Regards,
Pradipta

Hi Roger,

I was trying to do some measurements at 20ms Sample Rate using one VNC channel and the FAST modifier. In theory the Datataker should be able to cope with that, but what I find is that about each 20 measurements or so it skips 100ms of measurements.

I think this is probably because the dataTaker is busy with the communications since I am using the /R switch to send the results

Should the shields of grounded thermocouples be connected at the thermowell side and not at the logger side? I know that the shield should only be grounded at one end. The signal ground of the thermocouples should be connected at the logger end only. Is this correct? Thank you for your help and time.

Yours truly,

I am trying to find whether the Green light on the physical Ethernet port comes on when the Ethernet cable is plugged in the Dt800 logger? Also if it stays on? I have used the profile commands to set up the static IP address!

Hi, Roger,

Another little "drama" in my uneventful life! Could you explain how DT800 reads and calculates TRF (pulse width)? Is it done within a single Schedule read? What schedule trigger should I use with this function?

I am using TRF in my measurements using as a trigger "Trigger on Events" - trigger on raising and falling transition. While this works, I get two lines of data for eac

Hi,

I am having a problem upgrading the DT800 to the latest firmware (4.10.0001).

Whenever I load 4100001.dxf file with the Upgrade Firmware with DeTransfer, or allow DeLogger to try the upgrade, the file appears to be sent but it gets to EXECUTING... * and just hangs. I note the current firmware on the DT800 is 3.99.0002 BETA.

Any ideas?

I have four DT800s logging data on 15 minute intervals at a remote location. One logger has been locking up intermittently (stops logging, does not communicate).

Only way to reestablish communications has been by doing a hardware singlepush reset. After reset, the job is still okay but not running and data logging has stopped sometime previously. The event log shows nothing.

Other three

Hi,

My DT800 is logging battery voltage at input 1 (1V). I am trying to use the DT800 with a GSM modem to send a text message containing this logged data and the power supply voltage available to DT800.

I have tried to write the code but am finding it rather difficult to come up with something that actually works. Could I request a sample piece of code which will do the above?

I am having trouble making any connection with my dataTaker. It was purchased with a router and mobile communicator that are connected through the Ethernet port.

I assume that there are existing settings on the device, such as an IP address, these i do not know. Is there any way to find out what this information is so that i can ping the dataTaker? Or... how do i set the data taker to commun

Is it possible to log 65,000 data sample in burst mode at 100 kHz? If yes what are the configurations to be set by the user?

If not what is the maximum burst frequency at which I can log 65000 data sample? Is it possible to repeat burst session continuously without any time gap ?

Please answer urgently.

I used to unload data from DT800 ( Compact flash card ) but the data too large (5 sec in 2 month) so I quit unload and try to unload after.

The DeLogger show me the memory card is full but I can't unload the data anyway. I download Deload and try to unload the data again, but it show me the message "no data was found to unload for the selected data Taker schedules" (I'm already selected).

Hi,

On the DT800, I have attached a rain gauge which produces a pulse for every 0.2mm of rain. Attaching the rain gauge to Counter C1 & logging continuously,

I use up all the internal memory very fast. What should I change in the way the counter/ rain gauge is setup to use less memory? Going at this rate even a sizable ext memory card will not be enough for logging rainfall data for

Hi everyone,

I have used the DT800 on a remote site to log 15 channels (mv) for 2 separate periods of 1 month each.I used an external 12v battery and the logging frequency was every half an hour. No default parameters were changed for the DT800.

I had a problem with the second period when the DT800 logged for 2 days and then the batteries were flat. This is different as the first monthl

Hi, Roger,

I am having problem connecting my OLD laptop to DT800. The problem started since I have updated the DT800 firmware to the latest version. I have two laptops used with the logger. The old one uses Win98 OS and DeLogger version 4.2.10.1. It uses Serial Port for connecting.

I get message something about unable to determine baud rate. The other new laptop works with XP Home OS an
