Power supply

To all.

I have a three wire pressure transducer.
When connected to the DT800 it courses a very very high pitch tone then the power supply trips out and the continues cycle in this state. I have disconnected it in case of damaging the DT800. Could anyone explain why it is doing this?

Many thanks.
James.

Good morning James,

There are some DT800's that will make a noise if the power supply is damaged / overloaded.
Tell us some more about the sensor.
What is the power requirements of the sensor? It sound like it is overloading the DT800 power supply.

Cheers

Roger

Hi,

The power requirements for the transducer are 0.1 mA. It's from Keller-Druck voltage rang is 0-10VDC/0.5-4.5V.
It is wired into the DT800 as follows.
(+) VVC. Left hand 'SR'
(-) signal out. '4+'
(-) Return. '4- & left hand SR'
I look forward to you reply’s.

Many thanks.
James.

Good morning James,

I hope you mean (+) VVC. Left hand 'SP' and not SR :)

At 10 VDC the SP can deliver 50 mA which well exceeds the sensor requirements.
There may be some problem in the logger. Maybe you should talk to your dataTaker distributor about having it returned for service.

Note: If you do want to send the logger back make sure you talk to your dataTaker distributor so they can arrange the paper work.
You will need a Returned Goods Authority (RGA) and return details from us so we can track things.

Cheers

Thanks Roger.
It seams to be working now. I did mean 'SP'
I have two pressure transducers operating of the DT800. so one is on the left hand power out and the other on the right. This seamed to stop the Dt800 humming so loudly. smile
Once again thanks for your help.
James.
