Shared terminal 3 wire RTD - keep wire short?

On page 173 of our manual I see the Shared-Terminal 3 wire resistance inputs on one channel (the lower left illustration) does not show that the wires between the resistance element and the common point need to be short.

However, based on the illustration to the right of it, I think these wires should be kept short and this is just an omission. Should these wires be marked with an "S" as the footnote describes, and as the similar wires on the right hand illustration are? if not, how is this electrically different from the shared terminal 3-wire resistance inputs on a channel pair diagram at upper right on the same page?

Thanks!

Good morning Chris,

Yes you are correct, that is an omission from the manual.
Any extra lead length will add to the measured resistance.

Cheers

Roger
