Incorrect readings. Help/advice needed

My DT800 has suddenly started giving me incorrect outputs around 10% low. Inputs are 6 LVDT and 1 PT100 temperature probe, all the used channels are incorrect. LVDT typically over a scaled 30mm range reads around 28.4mm and the PT100 reads around 95°C for an actual temperature of 106°C, and the outputs are not stable. Software is a customised version of DE logger written specifically for our needs.

The change happened over a very short time, about 3 minutes. The datataker test status says everything passes OK. DT800 has had new gel cell and Li back up batteries within the last year and the external psu seems to be functioning correctly. Output is via a supplied USB to serial converter.

Sorry there might be some very obvious problem that I'm not seeing. I'm just the user but I have no back up and quite frankly I'm stuck. Oh and the boss is on my back!!!!!

Cheers and beers

Good morning Al,

So some thing has changed and we need to find out what that is.
I would start by disconnecting each sensor, one at a time, and see if that affects the results on the others.
Also has there been any changes around the building lately? Any electrical work etc? Using a different computer?
It might be a grounding problem or noise or power supply issues.

You should also contact your dataTaker distributor and ask for assistance.

Cheers

Roger

Good morning Roger,

and thank you for the advice. Over the next couple of days I will try out the disconnection process and see what happens. I will have a chat to Grant Instruments as well.

The system was moved but several weeks before the problem showed up and I will also check out the grounding as well.

Thanks for the advice, its all helpful
