Hi Dave,

This is the complete alarm syntax for DT80:
ALARMn(test)digitalAction"actionText"[commsProcess]{actionProcesses}

As you can see, Comm process is enclosed by square brackets and it is not supported in DeLogger.
DeLogger only recognize action processes which is enclosed in curly brackets.
And since DeLogger carried a legacy of older dataTaker, syntax declaration still follow the old DT500 {[...]} instead of using the new one {...}

Comm process was introduced in 2011 as part of series 3 which have modem range (firmware 9.00).
So if you would like to send email, you have to upgrade dataTaker firmware to the latest (or at least newer than 9.00).
And have manual channel (select User in DeLogger) to write your syntax.

Sorry Its not working for me.

My DT80 is series 1 and the Delogger 5 is not a pro version
Firmware is 9.16

I think it might be needing the PRO version

Enhanced Alarm functionality
DeLogger 5 Pro can use incoming dataTaker Alarms to
trigger Actions or forward incoming dataTaker Alarms to
the default e-mail system. Individual Alarms can be sent
(using a MAPI compliant mail client) by e-mail to alert
field staff of site conditions and problems.

How would I confirm this and get a Pro version for a discontinued product?

Hi Dave,

DeLogger Pro may send email from your PC,
it is not directly dataTaker action for emailing out but a trigger in dataTaker run a PC program for sending email (in this case a small script for accessing Microsoft Outlook is required).
The drawback is a constant connection to dataTaker in order for DeLogger to receive this trigger.

dataTaker itself through unload command (COPYD) is capable to send email to Ethernet connection.
You will need to install new firmware (i.e.: 9.18) and connect this logger to a router (if the site is close to Ethernet network) or 3G router (to use 3G connection).
Then a small setting to setup SMTP server into dataTaker profile.
