DT800 crashed while downloading data

Hi,

We are acceding remotely to a DT800 via TCP/IP socket. After a command "U", if link are lost (link provider problems or software break) the datalogger do not disconnect properly. Then, I can not restore the connection to DT800 remotely, and I have to restarted the DT800 manually.

The same occurs acceding to the DT800 locally by a Intranet. After send the command "U", if I remove the network cable from my computer, wait some seconds, and plug it back, the transmission doesn't end, and it is not possible to send any command, unless the DT800 will be restarted (power off, power on). How can I solve this problem, any suggestion?

Thanks, Regards

Good morning Josep,

What version of firmware is in the DT800? The first thing to try is loading in the latest firmware 4.02.0001

We do need to look into why the connection can not be re-established on the remote link. I will try and do some testing today and get back to you.

As for the direct connection, you have described exactly how a TCP/IP connection is supposed to operate. If you break the connection and reconnect again the unload will pick up where it left off. A TCP/IP connection will keep trying to send until the TCP/IP times out and that can be a few minutes later.

The DT800 will be receiving the commands and buffering them until the unload is finished. You can quit the unload at any time by sending the Q command, but it may take a few moments to respond.

Cheers,
Roger

Good morning Roger,

The version of the DT800 firmware was 3.16.0001. I have been able to update the firmware with the files 316v4bs.dxf, and 399v3bs.dxf, by means of DeTransfer (V 3.21). Now, the current firmware is Version 3.99.0002 BETA 2003/02/28 15:58:11, since it is not possible to upgrade the firmware with the file 4040001.dxf. It fails when the upgrade is loading (Loading firmware appears on the Upgrade Firmware Screen, and EXECUTING appears on the Details section).

You comment to update the latest firmware 4.02.0001, but on the dataTaker downloading web page there is the version 4.04.0001. How can I upgrade up to latest firmware?

Cheers,

Good morning Josep,

The current Version of firmware is 4.04.0001. The new firmware was released after I posted to this forum.

When you say "I have been able to update the firmware with the files 316v4bs.dxf, and 399v3bs.dxf" What exactly do you mean?

The file 316v4bs.dxf is the boot loader to take you from Version 3.16.0001 firmware to version 4 (Or the Beta firmware versions 3.99 etc). The 399v3bs.dxf allows you to go from version 4 firmware back to 3.16.0001
Once you have loaded the new boot loader and upgraded to version 4 (Or the 3.99 beta firmware) you do not need to either interim boot loader again.

The question is which boot loader do you have in your DT800?
Your description of the upgrade hanging when you try to upgrade to 4.004.0001 would suggest that while you have 3.99.0002 loaded you have the boot loader for 3.16 installed.

Please try the following from DeTransfer.

From the firmware upgrade load the file 316v4bs.dxf into the DT800.
Then Load the new firmware 4040001.dxf

Cheers,
Roger

Good Morning Roger,

Following your instructions the latest version 4.04.0001 has been installed. Now the problem after a loss of connection seems to be solved.

Thanks for your help

Cheers,
Josep
