How to save data in automatic ASCII file

Hi all,

I have currently have the following setup connected over Ethernet: 4 x DT800s 1 x Laptop running Delogger Pro 4 (+ Detransfer etc).

What I would like to do is save a text file in ASCII format on the laptop every time the dataTakers update (currently 1 min interval). 4 text files is ok if necessary. This text file would then be used as input data for another application.

The closest I have got is to automatically publish an html file every update. This works well however the file is in the wrong format.

Thanks for your help.

Good morning Denis,

There are a number of ways of approaching your project.

If you want ASCII files you can open 4 different text windows and write the data to the a file. But this will require the file to be open at all times and so your application will not be able to access the data until the file is closed.

It might be easier to record the data into a database session and then use an ODBC link to load the data into the other application.

DeLogger4 also has ActiveX and DDE controls which can be used to pass data to other applications.

I will look into this further

Cheers,
Roger

Thanks for the quick reply Roger.

I have managed to schedule an automatic unload of the loggers to a .csv file every 2 minutes. This is fairly close to ASCII, no?

I need to discuss this further with a plant technician to see if this format is OK.

I don't think DDE is an option because the data will be passed to a Siemens control system.

Is there any way to change the location of the saved .csv file (currently in the replay folder). I looked in the registry but couldn't find any relevant keys.
