CF card limitation

With the price of larger capacity CF cards going down, using higher capacity cards (>2Gb) with the DT800 is desirable for my application.

Does dataTaker have plans to increase the memory capacity that is compatible with the DT800? Is there anyway to get around the firmware limitation?

Thanks,
aerosue

When I try to insert the 8Gb card for formatting (knowing prior 2GB format restriction), the DataTaker repeatedly resets the firmware. Any known issues with RiData CF cards? (I don't think I saw them mentioned in the technical note).

Here is the error message and the error log:
Warning: abnormal firmware reset - type UERRLOG for details dataTaker 800 Version 4.10 Initializing...Done.

Good afternoon aerosue,

There is no way of getting around the size limitation of the operating system. The DT800 uses FAT16 which sets the maximum size limit.

We have no experience with your particular memory card.
I have been testing SanDisk ultra II 4 GB card but have not been able to replicate your system crash. I have passed the information to Engineering and they are looking at it.

Have you tried formatting the disk as FAT16?

Cheers,
Roger

Thanks for the reply, Roger. Each time I tried a FAT16 formatting session, the format session would not complete. I was only able to format the card as FAT32.

Long story short - I sent them back.
