Legacy Hardware and Apps
Startup fails

Hi,

I have a problem with a startup program. I load a program with DeLogger over RS232 onto the dataTaker. The last line in the program after the job is RUNJOBONRESET"PK13".

So once I disconnect the power from the datataker and reconnect, it should continue taking data. This works fine only if I delete some comments. If I don't, the program still runs when I upload it, but not on startup.

The error message is

?? dataTaker 800 Version 4.10
?? Initializing...Done.
?? /H /R/Z/M
?? STATUS14

But can also be a different error. Any ideas what's going wrong?

Good morning Philipp,

For the dataTaker to work with DeLogger the dataTaker must be in fixed format mode. What you are seeing is the dataTaker is being reset so it is no longer in fixed format mode (It is in normal mode after a reset).

The question is why is the logger being reset after DeLogger has connected. The reset command will not be coming from DeLogger because DeLogger knows to set the dataTaker back to fixed format mode once the reset is complete.

Cheers,
Roger

That is true. Reset doesn't come from DeLogger.

Seems that I haven't been careful with what I'm trying out. The dataTaker is running on batteries and once they are low, the dataTaker get's disconnected. Once the batteries are recharged, I want the datataker to resume its work.

What I did was disconnect the datataker from the power supply and then reconnect, but with the com-port still connected to DeLogger. But why does it work sometimes and sometimes not? Depending on the comments I have in the program?

Does including /H in my program solve my problem (command after Begin"Job")?

Good afternoon Philipp,

Yes, it will help DeLogger but is may upset other software packages.

Cheers,
Roger
