I have a DT800 which was not used for over a year. Switching it on today using the internal battery everything seemed fine, the IP settings were still set and I was able to access its web front-end via the Ethernet interface.

Thinking that it could probably do with charging I plugged in the DC power supply and all the lights and display instantly went out. Now when I switch it on or do a (paper clip) reset there's a flicker of lights on the front panel then nothing, no rickety click.

Holding one of the front panel buttons down gives flickering lights. This happens when it's just powered from the internal battery too. It's not looking good

Hopefully, this is a false alarm. Tried the DT800 this morning and got some life before it shut down.

I reckon that the DT800 just had enough juice to last 5-10mins after being unused for a year and it was just coincidence that it locked up at the point I connected the external PSU.

Hi Jim,

If you need to store any dataTaker for a period of time you should disconnect the internal battery. Other wise the logger will keep waking up to see if it need to do any thing and will flatten the battery etc.
