Thermocouple error at room temperature, serial #00000

This DT800 is just a few months old and we are using it for the first time with thermocouples. Before heating our equipment (everything is very close to 20 C) we see readings on all channels of around 17 C.

Logger REFT body temperature reports as around 20.5 to 21 C. Holding a thermocouple between fingers makes the reported value rise to around 30. These are all Type K.

The same dataTaker program running on another DT800 with thermocouples from the same bag on the same setup is giving reasonable temperatures. Also, the serial number reported in the data records and in the folder name written to memory cards is 000000.

Why would that be? Is there a way to correct it?

Hi Chris,

There could be a number of reasons for low readings. Please contact your dataTaker distributor and discuss this with him.

Cheers,
Roger
