Hi,

Is it possible to control a pump having a 0-5V control wire using DT80? I would like to regulate the flow rate based upon the temperature of the flow stream. DT80 already monitors said temperature.

Thanks and regards,
Sameet

Hi,

I'm trying to use digital channels 5D, 6D, 7D and 8D to monitoring digital status like I usually do with 1D, 2D, 3D, 4D. The channels from 1D to 4D work correctly but the channels from 5D to 8D don't work at all: they return digital status 0 (zero) with open and close circuit.

All the channels have the same command line so I don't understand why they do not work. There something tha

Hi guys,

We are still on the angular velocity problem. We are toying with the idea of using a rotary phase encoder and counting the pulses. With an encoder that produces 5000 pulses per revolution, it works out at 14.8 pulses per degree of travel. At 30 RPM that is roughly 14.8 pulses in 5 milliseconds.

Are we trying to get to much out of the DT80? We can go to lower encoder pulse rates

Hi Guys,

We are trying to log the change of a resistance versus time to calculate an angular velocity. I have managed to obtain a logging rate of approx 50 ms. Is it possible to go lower then this, and if so how?

Cheers,
Geoff

Hi,

I wish to use the relay outputs A and B to power an external device when a certain condition is met. To test the functioning of the relay, I tried activating the relay by sending a simple 1RELAY=1 command and measuring the resistance between terminals A and B, thinking that the resistance should be close to zero when the relay is activated.

However, this was not the case (the multim

I am trying to use a dataTaker (DT80) to interrogate a device with a serial comms output (RS232). I am wondering is it possible to use a dataTaker to ask a device for a status check and then save the data from the interrogation?

For example if I wanted to gain the status of a modem via a hyperterminal session, I would use the code AT&V. I would then get the following output:

Dear Sir,

I'm now using DT85 for data logging. I got problem and cannot get reading when I connect Vaisala HMP-50 humidity and temperature probe to DT85.

I used DT85 only since one month ago and I'm quite new. Can anyone help me about this problem? Both physical installation and software programming.

Best regards,
Rio

Hi,

I have a DT85 set up that monitors four separate temperatures using 1/8" Diameter Type K thermocouples. The logger is set up a couple of meters away from the thermocouples and I usually leave my laptop connected to the data logger to display a real time graph of the temperatures during experimental runs.

I encountered a problem today involving interference of the thermocouple signal

Morning folks.

I am having some trouble with the DT80 and my 4-20mA inputs. I am trying to hook them up across the + & - terminals and am getting nowhere. I have tried using and external 10 Ohm resistor but to no avail.

I am also using the Prog1.DT80 window for my scaling. I have read the manual that came with the logger but it only seems to reference the Text programming option. Ca

Hello,

I am currently undergoing a project which aims to carry out load test for different materials so as to measure the amount of force exerted on the material upon impact.

I am using a DT80 datalogger and a load cell and a 2-channel transducer. The load cell I am using has details found here: http://www.pt-global.com/index.php?shop_name=pt&func=14&DPT=p&DPI=236&DCI=89

Dear Roger,

For your information, I already setup one system via GSM modem using DT80. this system actually communicate via using Ethernet wireless network.

So every minute, i will get real-time data from every site. My question is, if my network down, can DT80 automatically switch to GSM modem? So I can get the data as usual.

If u have any special command to do that, plz tell me..

Hi,

I have a query to do with my DT80/85 over a wireless network. If for some reason I loose connectivity on my Cisco network, the loggers appear to go to sleep.

When the network connection is re-established I cannot even ping the loggers. If I send a continuous ping, after about 20 minutes, for some reason I can talk to them again.

Can you give me an explanation for this?

I have an array of 10 4-20mA current output pressure sensors connected to a DT80. These are connected to a 20V power supply and wired using the external shunt method.

Unfortunately, my power supply is not maintaining a constant potential, and I was wondering is there any manner in which i can monitor this change to reassure myself of the validity of the collected data??..

I'm trying to calibrate a acceleromter on a DT80, the calibration certificate I have give the following information:

Sensitivity 11.40V/g @80Hz
Bias voltage 5.7 volts
Supply voltage 12V
I currently have it reading on a voltage signal.

Thanks,
Russell May

Hi,

I'm getting noise of f~ 125kHz and magnitude ~400mV (I've checked it with an oscilloscope) which, as you can imagine is completely drowning out the ~4mV signals from my type K thermocouples when they are at ambient temp.

I have placed the 5V AC power supply in a separate shielded cable - so I know the noise is coming from an external source. So far the only thing that seems to work

Hi Guys,

Is there any easy serial extension for DT80? Need to put in 3 serial ports, SDI12 cannot do for the 3 sensors. Any alternative datataker model that can accept 3 serial input? Not that expensive ones

Advance thanks.

If DT80 is to be installed inside an explosion proof box as the system is to be used in a hazardous zone 1 area, do we need to install zener type intrinsically safe barrier like this? http://www.process-controls.com/MTL/mtl_intrinsic_Barriers.html

Have a lot of other users done this? What is the most popular IS barrier brand used for DT80?

Advance thanks.

Hi Roger,

I find that when you load new programs into a DT80/85 as a reset job the logger does not like the changes, even a minor ones.

I keep getting old data errors and invalid profile errors. It's driving me nuts. I keep having to upgrade the firmware. This time even that's not working. Here is the program I'm using and below that is a cut and past of what is coming up in the view er

We use a Wheatstone bridge to measure resistance change(expected resistance change is 0.11 Ohm). Our sensor is an isonel-coated platinum wire which has 15 cm length and 25 micrometer diameter.

The sensor is also an heater. We expect to measure an imbalance within the range of 1 mV. Is it possible to measure such quantities with DT80? I also want a "to do list" for decreasing noise.

I have written an OpenVMS socket based communication package to interface with our proprietary database and have observed behavior that I would like clarified if possible.

After connecting to the DT81 and sending an unload request for data from a 1 minute schedule's most current data (details omitted), I then read my socket and found "host computer return data" that continued to be sent for
