Was inserting new code on a recently acqqired DT80 series 4 on Dex 2 and applied some changes to the logger program, as I've done before, but now it is not able to obtain an IP address.

Dex-2 tries to heartbeat the logger but never manages to connect. I've accessed the logger through its IP on the browser and can see the event log:

"Ethernet Interface: cannot obtain an IP Address => Error: [600] EDHCPSERVNORESP"

Many errors like this in the log. I've restarted the logger several times and it never connects to DEX-2 (yellow light, instead of the green/red one). I've turned it off for a few hours as well.

Do I have to resort to a format and reinstall the logger?

When you did not define any IP address for the logger, you use an automatic DHCP assignment. However, DHCP assignment can occur only through a DHCP server, and one of the devices capable of having a DHCP server is a router.

As you connect the logger to your computer (PC is not a DHCP server), the logger will generate a local link IP address on the connection with 169 headers. Unfortunately, the logger internal system will keep waiting for automatic assignment; thus, you receive that error message.

I recommend you defining an IP address to the logger to remove the appearance of this message. And at the same time, you may need to set an address on your PC. You can also use a router between your computer and your logger.
