The REFT is required to read temperature sensors, it is unlikely the internal RTD get damaged. Most likely one of the series of relays may not work because voltage surge. You should send the unit back for repair, especially if your application has temperature sensors. But if you deal with SDI12 and MODBUS, or any other digital channels (i.e.: counter, digital state) then you can wait until your testing is completed.
