DEX 2.0 and DTusb downloads?

Hi, I have a couple of DataTaker DT80's (one series 2, one series 4).

I plugged the S4 into a Windows 10 PC and Windows said it was installing a driver. Would this be DTusb or do I need to physically download it (where from?) and install it first?

I see from other posts that DEX 2.0 avoids the need for Flash. Where is the download for DEX2.0? Do I need to upgrade the DT80 firmware first?

I found a dtUSB driver and installed it (dtusbpackage-102). When I plugged in the DT80 S4 it recognised it - a popup window appeared briefly, then disappeared.

I also installed deTransfer. When I ran it, it didn't seem to find the usb-connected DT80.

I wondered whether the DT80 needed its firmware updating (was 9.20) so I downloaded and unzipped DT80-9229125-usbdisk, the copied the contents (dt80_release_notes, firmware.bin, loader.s, oninsert.dxc, readme-usbdisk) onto a usb stick. I then put the usb stick into the DT80's usb socket. It flashed briefly and then said "Reading USB device".

I didn't include the DT80-9229125.DXF file, as that was a separate download.

It has been saying "Reading USB device" for the past 15 minutes. How long is the firmware update meant to take? The instructions are a bit vague.

I am using Windows 10 (Enterprise version). The manuals do not mention Windows 10, just 7, 8 and XP. Is this a problem?

Help!

Hi George1166,

We apologize for the late response.

You will need to install the USB driver if you want to establish a connection to the logger via USB. The driver is included within the DTUsb installation, you will notice this within the installation process.

About the dEX 2.0, you can download it from this forum. The installation link was pinned at the top.

When you have a series 2 logger, you will need to upgrade the firmware in order to communicate with dEX 2.0. After upgrading the firmware you need to update the USB identification if you wish to use the USB cable to communicate with your PC.

Please use USB Serialiser to update the identification, the software was installed together with DTUsb installation. Start the USB Serialiser and disconnect the USB cable. When you reconnect the cable again, you will be able to click the "Update USB information" button.

Best regards,
