Flow rate measurement

Hello All,

I am finding a sensor which measure Flow Rate, Water Velocity and it have to connect to DT82EM via SDI-12 interface. It is Ultrasonic Doppler sensor.

If anybody knows that sensor (it have to connect to DT82EM), tell me about that please.

Good morning vinhquyen,

There are a number of Doppler water velocity sensors on the market, what is the make and model of yours?
The general approach for SDI-12 is very much the same each sensor.

There should be three wires Power, Ground and data.

If using an external power supply connect:
Ground to the power supply ground and the DGnd on the DT80
Power to the power
Data to digital input 5

You can also power the sensor from the logger but for the moment lets keep it very simple, we can always add things latter.
In the manual for the sensor there will be a list of registers and the items of data each register holds.
For example, this is from a turbidity sensor I have here

aM! aR0! aC! Battery, temperature, mean, sample variance
aM1! aR1! aC1! Mean, variance, median, minimum, maximum
aM2! aR2! aC2! Median, minimum, maximum
aM3! aR3! aC3! Single turbidity measurement.

So in register 0 we have 4 item (Battery, temperature, mean, sample variance) and in register 3 we have 1 (turbidity)

In you configuration
Use ADD > Serial > SDI-12 to read the sensor.

Follow the dialogs and fill in each field.
The sensor address is probably 0, if you are using more than one sensor then you will need to configure the sensor addresses before connecting them.
Select the wiring diagram for digital input 5.
The select the register that holds the data items you want and the register index (Item number in the register )

I want to measure Flow Rate, Water Velocity. So I just find a device which is Starflow Ultrasonic Doppler Instrument with MicroLogger - Model 6526 . This device have to support SDI-12 interface. .. The information is below the link :

From your information, I think this device can connect to DT8x via SDI-12 interface.
