Firmware Update via USB for DT80

I'm trying to setup a DT80 that my company has had on a shelf for likely 6-8 years. In order tot ry and use the device using the dEX-2 software I determined I needed to update the firmware. However I cannot use the browser interface due to the lack of flash. I opted to use the USB update option. However it sat stating it was processing "oninsert.dxc" overnight with no change. Is that expected if not what might be causing the issue?

Hi Heldracul,

There are several mismatches that you need to address:

  • The dEX 2.0 (replacing the Flash Player dEX) can only connect with firmware 9.20 or newer to the logger - so you need to upgrade the firmware.
  • If you run old firmware, you must connect using a command interface such as DeTransfer to check the directory content on the memory. You can use DeTransfer to upgrade the firmware on a non-USB version.
  • If you have a series 2 logger or older, you must update the USB port ID to use a USB connection. You also need new firmware to run an update on the port ID. Due to some limitations, you may need to use a serial port or Ethernet for the first time.

We can assist you in addressing the above issues, please let us know the detail of your logger (firmware version, logger series, serial number, etc).

Best regards,

hi Datataker Expert,

Similar situation here for a DT80 and a DT85 which we have been using for quite some time and we now want to start using the DEX2 software via USB.

DEX2 has been installed though I am not able to connect to the loggers.

Hi SabineP,

If your logger is older than series 4, its firmware may be older than the 9.20 version. You will need to upgrade the firmware to allow connection to dEX 2.0.

Can you provide details on your logger model and serial number?
