Hi All,
I am currently in the process of connecting up 20 strain gauges to a CEM20. In order to help reduce electrostatically induce noise, which can be a problem with my setup, I need to ground all of the shields at the Data Taker end. Although there is an analogue ground connection on the DT85, I do not see one on the CEM20. I could connect all of the shields up to the DT85, however this will become very crowded and complicates things with excessive exposed wires connecting the shields to the DT85.
I have had a look at the manual for any clues about analogue grounding to the CEM20. It says the following: "Shielded cable is recommended. The cable shield should be connected to DGND at one end only, as shown in the
diagram. It is not necessary for everything to use the one DGND terminal – shields may be connected to any of the DGND terminals on the logger, or to the earth point on the metal end plate" (Page 357 of the manual).
Do I find a vacant DGND port and connect the shields to that, or is this just referring to the connection between the CEM20 and the DT85? Is there an earth point on a CEM20, and if so, where is it?
Many thanks
Philip
