Background command delays

I have a 1 min schedule that prepares data. 5 seconds after the schedule a poll unload is executed. The response takes minutes. this may have to do with configuration of the communications. I have 7 sites,6 work without error. The other site has consistent unload delays. The source is the same. Ideas?

Good afternoon nseii,

The communications can play a big part as can a number of other factors.
Unloading the data every minute does seem a bit extreme, why so often?

What type of communications does the DT82E have? (Ethernet, Wireless, radio modem RS232?)
How stable is the communications? for example if you are using a 3G connection what is the signal strength?
Take a look at the event log and see if there are any communications errors or session errors.

Cheers

Roger

The DataTakers are connected through Ethernet to a MDS radio Modem which on the back end is fed to a T1 connection. The network is stable and the bandwidth is sufficient.

The problem seems to be when the Datatataker receives a poll request when busy doing its schedules. When done with housekeeping it seems to have problems picking up the impending poll request. Is this a red herring?

The chronology is that:

  1. The real time data is generated at the turn of the minute.
  2. The poll request for the data generated is received and echoed.
  3. The poll response occurs after 50+ seconds. (as visible from DeTransfer)

Good morning nseii,

As your sites are all running the same code and 6 out of 7 work then it is unlikely to be a problem with firmware or all sites would be effected.

Any commands are queued in the command buffer then processed.
The Copyd command runs in the back ground when resources are available so the greater the DT80 work load the slower the transfer speed.
Which brings us back to communications if the Ethernet connection is

I would start by down loading the event log for this unit and check to see if there are any session failures or FTP / Email errors.

Cheers

Roger
