acquired dt80 series 1

I have recently acquired a dt80 series 1 logger. I have replaced both batteries as they were flat.
I have upgraded the firmware to V9.18.
I have reset the clock to current time via USB flashdrive insert.
I have been able to view and move through the file system via Safari browser and Firefox browser. Approximate content shown in attached jpg. I have attempted (unsuccessfully) to remove files with oninsert file and DELALLJOBS.

The manual description of using dEX via browser does not happen so can only assume that it only works with series 2 onward.
What to try next?
I do have access to a windows 10 machine with internet and an old XP but no internet.

Good morning Ian

Yes the Series 1 does not support the web browser.

It was configured through an old, now unsupported, program called DeLogger
You can still program it via DeTransfer using the dataTaker language.

Cheers

Thanks Roger
I used Delogger in an earlier life.
1) I'm assuming both of these (Delogger and DeTransfer) only run on Microsoft Win platform.
Do they use a USB connectivity or only RS232.

Hi Ian
Yes both are for Windows.
You can use any terminal program to cut native dataTaker code.
Yes you can use either port or ethernet to communicate with the logger.
You should also upgrade the firmware.

Cheers

Hi Roger
Transfer run on a windows platform using the connect button seems to want to establish an rs232 type connection. How do you get it to look at USB ports?

Hi Ian

A USB connection is an RS232 connection.
With the dataTaker disconnected open the connection definition dialog and look at the available connections.
Then close it, connect the dataTaker and wait for windows to recognise it.
Open the connection dialog and you logger will be the new connection on the list.

Cheers

Something different
DT80 connected to imac via ethernet cable
I have created in textedit a file called ONINSERT.DXC (see top window of attachment for screendump of the little program called "fred7"

This file copied to USB memory stick and then inserted into DT80 USB port. Looking at the middle window of the attatchment we can see a file on b: called PROGRAM.TMP is created and time stamped with the correct time. On inspection (bottom window in attachment) we can see the contents of that file is the same as what was created via the textedit session. So far all looks as expected. There also appear to be a file called CURJOB.TXT. when viewed, it appears to be empty and no CURJOB attempts to run yet the program is simple and follow what the manual directs. Any suggestions?

Hi Ian

My guess is a syntax error in your code.
When you load the code it will be copied over to the logger but can't run if there is an error.
As you have a TCP/ip connection you could use DeTransfer to send the code and you will get a syntax error showing the line and location in the line the error is most likely to be.

Cheers

Hi Ian and Roger,

Just want to add a few thing.
You may also check which one at fault during ONINSERT job transfer when you establish connection to dataTaker via DeTransfer.
It may not as clear as Roger's method (sending the program each line via DeTransfer) but it may avoid any discrepancy on using backslash (ONINSERT uses single backslash while DeTransfer uses double backslash).

Best regards,
Rudy Gunawan

Thank Rudy
I getting there bit by bit.

I have resolve an "unable to open com1 error" from within detransfer and overnight run a thermister and thermocouple logging trial. Data ok albeit a bit noisy.

The parser on detransfer spotted several errors. forward slashes, backslashes etc.

Appreciatively
