Hi dataTaker Users,
I want to share some information about using google mail server.
As you already know a standard google mail server has SSL encryption so it can't be used on dataTaker.
However there is one mail server that open for port 25 as well as without SSL encryption.
It is aspmx.l.google.com
Use this command
for internal modem type: PROFILE MODEM_SESSION SMTP_SERVER=aspmx.l.google.com
for other external comm device: PROFILE ETHERNET_SESSION SMTP_SERVER=aspmx.l.google.com
No username and password is needed.
That mail server has been tested so far with internal modem of dataTaker, 3G router Netcomm and stellite terminal Hughes.
It has no problem on sending out an email.
But there is a catch, your destination address might consider this as a spam and reject it (you will receive 550 error code, you can see this code when you activate SMTP diagnostic mode P56=8).
So the best solution is using gmail for your destination (and you may use email forwarding function on gmail if you want).
In the process if you see error code -2, that means that you have not properly setup your DNS address (on the router or dataTaker depending whether you are using DHCP or not).
Best regards,
Rudy Gunawan
