Digital Counters 5D-8D: Simple dry contact application?

I am looking to use the digital counters 5D-8D to record pulses from a dry contact. Manual on pg. 315 says this is possible however, online literature provides a more complex circuit to achieve this.

Is there another simple way of using 5D-8D like 1D-4D to measure pulses from a dry contact?

Thanks in advance.

Good morning mtseitzler,

Digital inputs 1 to 4 are held high to a 3.2 VDC (CMOS) internal power supply.
When the contact between the digital channel is closed the power supply is pulled to ground and the digital input sees the change in Voltage.

You will need to provide power to the digital inputs 5 to 8 with a voltage to replicate attributes of digital 1 to 4.

I would recommend using a 12 VDC power supply with a suitable current limiting resistor (Probably about 10kOhms and one for each digital channel) connected to the digital input.

Cheers
Roger
