Internet on DT80

Hello!
I need help solving a problem with my DT80.
This is the situation, i have 1 DT80, 1 router 3G, and they are connected by ethernet.
Now the DT can send email, ftp transfer, but i still can get remote access to the DT.

The Router 3G has DDNS configuration, and using no-ip hostname, i can see it's IP.
And i know that i can connect to the router 3G because when i do it, i see the configuration menu of my the router 3G.
That is my problem, i cannot see the datataker only the router 3G.

Which is confusing because DT-internet direction is ok (email e FTP) but in reverse is NOT OK.

Can anyone help me?

Good morning Skeighter,

Check the DNS server settings in the DT80 point to the router.
Also check any fire walls pass though the required ports http://www.thermofisher.com.au/show.aspx?page=/ContentAUS/Manufacturing-Processing/Industrial-Loggers/DataTaker/DataTaker-FAQ/dEX-FAQ.html

Check you have a public APN set for the SIM card in the router
Are you in Australia? If you have a Telstra SIM card make sure the APN is telstra.extranet this will need to be enabled by Telstra.

Cheers,
Roger

Hello!
Good morning!
Thank you, for replying so quickly!

Status:
I am from Portugal. And i am using DT80 not DT8xM, i do not have a integrated modem in DT80.
So i cannot configure DDNS in DT, only in router 3G connected to DT, which is done.
I'm using DDNS from no-ip, and it is working fine.

Regarding the ports, it is ok, because i have connected directly via Ethernet to my PC and it works fine for 7700, 21 and 80 ( the ones i need )

My great concern is DNS server in DT80. I didn´t configured nothing, because i had the profile Ethernet Ip_adrress in AUTO.
So now, i tryed to configure the Profile Ethernet manualy with this parameters:

[ETHERNET]
ENABLE = YES
IP_ADDRESS = 192.168.1.2
SUBNET_MASK = 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY = 192.168.1.1

The router 3g has 192.168.1.1

[PPP]
USER =
PASSWORD =
[NETWORK]
DNS_SERVER_1 = 208.67.222.222
DNS_SERVER_2 = 208.67.220.220

The DNS_SERVER i obtained puting the router 3G connected to PC and with "ipconfig /all", i extrated the DNS server IP's.

I 'm not sure if this is correct.

What i'm sure is that with this configuration manually or in AUTO, i can send mail e FTP transfer from the DT, but i never can access the DT from Detransfer orInternet Browser, which is what i need.

Cheers,
Skeighter

Good morning Skeighter,

Have you checked your APN is a public and not private?
What you describe is exactly what happens when the APN is private. The DT80 can send emails and FTP data but because the APN is private it is sitting behind a firewall that blocks all incoming traffic. A public APN doesn't have a fire wall and can accept incoming traffic.

As the DT80 can send ftp and email it looks to be set up correctly.
I suggest you contact the people who supplied the router and ask them for further assistance.

Cheers,
Roger

If you can access the router config menu via internet you should be able to access DT80 too.

Have you set the port forwarding / NAT in the router? In the router you may be finding a NAT configuration section where you can specify the public port, private port and private port server IP address (DT80 IP address).
e.g. you can set 80 as both for public and private port (check that the router remote HTTP access is set to a port different than 80, otherwise change it or change the public port to another port number).

Hope this help.

Hello!
Bingo, teo as figured out, the problem was the modem/router 3G that has been blocking incomming connections, so i did what you said and put ports 80,843,7700,21,502, to port forwarding. And IT WORKED just fine, know i can access remotely DT, by browser (port 80), by Detransfer (port 7700) and by FTP server (port 21).

Status:
APN Vodafone Portugal ( public address ) : net2.vodafone.pt

PROFILE
[ETHERNET]
ENABLE = YES
*IP_ADDRESS = AUTO

Thank you, for your help.
