Analog terminal to connect power supply to an amplifier

Hi all, hope that somebody can help me with this

I'm using analog sensors connected to a Voltage amplifier with a three conductor cable, one to signal out, one to ground and the third for power supply. The amplifier has an terminal to connect the power supply input +DC voltage (Vcc 5-24 VDC), but is not clear for me to which terminal in the datataker would correspond the power supply connection (-,*, else?). Can anybody help me to understand this? I'd appreciate it, thank you!

Can you post a link to your amplifier? It would help confirm the wiring to the data logger.

Hi C Min,

Those 3 wires will have the following connection:

  • Red (power +) to 12V pin in DT
  • Black (common/ power -/ signal -) to DGND pin and 1# pin in DT
  • Green (signal +) to 1* pin in DT

You can enable 12V output from dataTaker using PWR12V=1
You will get a voltage signal (mV) between green and black wire, which correspond to uA signal of LiCOR sensor.
That gain factor will convert mV reading into uA then you can use calculation formula to convert uA into W/m2 or umol or klux

Best regards,

Hi, thank you so much for your help. Just two more questions, to enable the 12V output, is this done with the command line? Or is there any other way to give the instruction =1 (web interface for instance)?

Also, as I understand the Black wire should be then divided between the DGND and the 1# pin?

I'd appreciate if you could confirm this
Thank you again

Hi C Min,

If you write the program in dEX, you have to use a Manual channel to declare PWR12V=1.
And yes, black wire is common wire for power and signal so it must be use for both (divided term is not right - perhaps shared).
