Trigger schedule on external event

We want to use datalogger to measure two channels - load cell and strain gage simultaneously, with a schedule such that, the data is recorded on a switch press and not at a fixed time interval.

I was reading the manual and I found that schedules can be triggered on external events, (Pg - 43 of DT-80 Users manual).

I feel a trigger on switch press should be "Trigger on rising transition of digital input channel n"

I want to know which switch (specifications, make, model) to attach to a digital channel to utilize this capability.

Regards,
Chintan Pathak

Good morning Chintanp,

Digital inputs 1 to 4 will trigger when a contact is closed.
Simply connect a press switch between the digital channel and the Digital ground terminal.
In your program select the schedule to trigger on a falling edge then define your channels.

When loaded the schedule will run when the button is pressed.

Cheers,
Roger

I was suggested by the company that I need to use the below shown arrangement:

5cb89a8eaec9b

Kindly used Digital Push Button Switch with below arrangement and used Resistor between Digital channel and Ground terminal of supply.

Or a simple switch like under is sufficient:

5cb89ac60d9e8

I want to know whether I need the micro-controller and board, or just a switch will do.

Appreciate your patience.

All you need is a contact closure switch

Thanks Roger,

I was able to achieve the desired response of triggering the recording with a button press, among other variations, where, it recorded while the button was pressed and so on.

Discovering the possibilities of datataker, always keeps astounding. smile

Great work team.
