External power

Hi, I am trying to power the datataker externally using a 12V battery. I hooked it up on the +/- terminals on the side of the datataker, right next to the little BC bridge. It appeared to be working (I had the leads connected correctly) and charging the internal battery. However, one of the leads of the external 12V battery got disconnected and the internal battery was rapidly discharged and destroyed. I also noticed that just having the leads attached (i.e., without either being connected to the 12V battery) on the +/- terminal appears to drain the internal battery.

I would like to keep the internal battery connected as well so that I can occasionally disconnect the 12V battery and recharge it in my office without data loss. Is there a way/setting to prevent the 6V battery from discharging (other than ensuring leads do not get disconnected)? I do not want the internal 6V battery charging the 12V external battery.

This is the output when I connect a fully charged external battery, I replaced both lithium ion and internal battery 2 months ago:

Hi Astrid,

Internal battery has 1.2Ah in size, therefore depending on your measurement interval and number of channels it may get quickly drained.
Power consumption list in DT manual specific to battery usage has an assumption of enabling sleep.
Example:
5 sensors at 10 minutes interval consume 4 mW (according to the manual) because sleep mode is enable - internal battery will last for 1700+ hours
When sleep mode is disable it will consume 302 mW - internal battery will last for 23 hours.
The above number with an assumption Ethernet, LCD backlight are disable and no usage on 12V onboard output.

Could you describe your sensors and measurement interval?

Best regards,
Rudy Gunawan
