DT80 connection issues

Hi,

I've recently started making use of the DT80 Series 2, but I'm having trouble connecting to it over USB with some DataTaker software. I have DeLogger, DTUSB and DeTransfer all installed, and DeTransfer seems to work fine, it connects and displays the logged data whenever a log is done (the DataTaker has been pre-programmed for another use by a colleague who isn't around now) - but DeLogger can't connect using the same serial parameters (either auto-detect-baud or 9600, which appears to be what DeTransfer is set to use). Similarly DTUSB simply comes up with "No logger connected or Connection pending". I'm not familiar with the DataTaker programming language so I'd much prefer to use the GUIs of DeLogger or dEX (which appears to need DTUSB to work) if I can, but Google isn't giving me much love on what the problem might be - any thoughts?

Cheers,

Tim

Hi Tim

DTUsb sets up a TCP/IP connection over the USB port.
If you make a TCP/IP connection in DeLogger you will be able to connect.
Click on DTUsb to find the address

Hi Tim,

There are two possible causes on "No logger connected ..." message:

  • you might accidentally installed DTUsb while USB cable plugged. This might crash that particular port, so please use another USB port.
  • you have an older logger with old firmware. On the second cause you have to upgrade dataTaker firmware and run USBSerialiser program to update USB information on your DT unit.

Virtual COM might not work on DeLogger if you have DTUsb running in the background (as DTUsb creates USB to TCP/IP connection) or you have a case of DeLogger incompatibility with Windows 7/ 8.
For the latter, you might solve it using Windows compatibility mode for DeLogger.
If this compatibility mode does not work then this could be incompatibility issue, unfortunately no remedy for this issue, but you can always move to dEX.

Best regards,
Rudy Gunawan

Thanks very much. It is a fairly old logger (2009 if I had to guess?) so sounds like an old firmware might be the problem - unfortunately it's not mine, so I'll need to confirm I'm able to upgrade it before I can try this out. Much appreciated!
