Having trouble connecting to DT80

Hi everyone,

I'm quite new to dataTaker. Sorry if my questions seem like rambling but would like to let you in on the details so hopefully someone might diagnose the problem.

Anyhow I seem to have problems connecting to the DT80 using my laptop. I have followed the instructions by the book so I can't seem to troubleshoot my problem.

I'm using Ethernet connection to connect my laptop to DT80 and chosen the connection to be dt8x Ethernet within connections menu. But as soon I send program to connection there is no way to clarify if the DT80 has the program in it.

I have also realized that selections in the dataTaker menu cannot be made so I can't view things like Status of DT80. I would also like to know one more thing to program a DT80 you use the Prog1.d80 box instead of Prog.dl8.

Thnx

Hi Nalinster,

Connecting a DT80 directly to a PC can be a bit tricky, this is mainly due to setting up Windows on the PC.

If you have the network set up as described in the DT80 manual (Ver UM-0085-A4) on page 131 then using Firefox or IE, type in the IP address you have allocated to the DT80 e.g: 192.168.0.50

You should now see the DT80's web page. If so, great! Now just check you have set up the dt8x Ethernet connection in DeLogger with the correct IP address you have allocated.

If not, review the network set up. Use Prog1.d80 for programming the DT80.

Good morning nalinster.

You may also need a cross over Ethernet cable for a direct connection. Older computers need a cable with the Rx - Tx lines crossed, some newer computers detect which is Rx and Tx and cross over automatically.

Cheers,
Roger

Thnx Michael Hampson and Roger for your input.

Just to clarify I'm using a direct Ethernet connection. I have grabbed a copy of the manual from the net I believe all the info is on Selecting Ethernet Parameters.

Anyway thnx for your assistance smile
