Logging a photo

Hi folks,

I have an application monitoring just about everything on a lake and now the client is asking for daily pictures of surrounding fauna, in particular the reeds and other normal aquatic growth.

Only one still shot per day would be required and download remotely is not needed so file size not really an issue, although I believe VGA resolution would be good enough. I'm wondering if anyone can offer some advice on how to go about this?

My initial thought would be to use a webcam but the USB issues canned this so I began thinking of a network based camera perhaps allowing use of the DT80's network port. Is this possible or are there other suggestions I should investigate?

Kind regards,
Bill

Good afternoon Bill,

If the web cam has FTP capability you should be able to FTP the files into the DT80. The problem then would be to recover the data and the photo's. If you have a dial up line to the dataTaker you could set up a PPP connection and then FTP the photo's form the logger and down load the data too.

Never tried this but it looks OK in theory.

Cheers,
Roger
