DT80 modem connection

Hi!

I'm periklis a new member to your forum. Firstly I have a problem with the communication between DT80 and my modem. The idea is to try take examples from the sensor which is connected to DT80 through a modem.

This is a sketchy diagram about what i want to do (sensor{connected to sensor serial port > dt80 >modem(mc35i){connected to host port} and communicate with mc35i modem).

I started with the modems configuration and DT80 host port. I connected with hyperterminal making a call. The other modem answered and give me back the dataTaker string "datataker 80 version 5.08".

So, correct me if i am wrong, there is a connection with DT80 and i don't have any configuration problems. After that I try to give DT80 commands like 20SV, DIRJOBS etc, but there was no response.

Did I forget something to do? Does anyone know if i need a specific command to open the host port? Or i need to change a DT80 parameter?

Secondly I was trying to use modem to connect with Delogger to DT80. I create a new modem connection in Delogger and I took the exact words in the message box status check Warning:status check error and then it disconnects.

What am I doing wrong?

Good morning Peri,

There are a couple points here:

  1. When using Hyper terminal to connect to a dataTaker you need to send /E/M/R before it will respond and before you disconnect you must send /e/m/r. If you don't you might end up with a communications problem because the modem will be in command mode and will try sending error messages to the dataTaker when it sees the data.

  2. It would be better to use DeTransfer rather than Hyper terminal. It's our own terminal program and knows how to talk to dataTakers.

  3. Please upgrade the firmware the firmware version for the DT80 is currently at 7.06 so there have been a substantial number of improvements and bug fixes.

Cheers,
Roger
