Low pass filter

Hi,

I'm getting noise of f~ 125kHz and magnitude ~400mV (I've checked it with an oscilloscope) which, as you can imagine is completely drowning out the ~4mV signals from my type K thermocouples when they are at ambient temp.

I have placed the 5V AC power supply in a separate shielded cable - so I know the noise is coming from an external source. So far the only thing that seems to work is making a little RC low pass filter on each channel before I connect it to the dataTaker...

But before I perform this tedious task on all 60-odd channels, I just wanted to check if there happens to be a way to do this through the software (e.g. Delogger).

Thanks.
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

Getting rid of the signal is always best. Try keeping the cable length as short as possible, using shielded thermocouples etc.

The other thing is to increase the number of back ground samples, e.g ES5 will sample the channel for 6 * 20 mSec and return the average.

Cheers.
Roger
