In addition to Roger suggestion, look also at page 261 of DT80's manual (latest version UM-0085-A8) "Getting optimal speed from your DT80".
Currently I am facing a similar requirements from a customer and I'm testing a RS485 voltage to ASCII "fast" converter; the main reason to use such module is to avoid the input relay multiplexer "going crazy" switching many times per second over a long data acquisition sessions. Currently I reach a cycle time of about 50 ms (one channel).
