Flow rate and total

Hi folks.

At the moment I am getting a signal back from my turbine meter into DT80 using a hall effect sensor and the high speed counter but would really like to do it with a magnetic pickup. My pickup outputs around about 50mV.

Is it possible to bring the magnetic pickup into DT80, read it as a frequency and then work out both a total volume and a flow rate? I have gotten both of these using the high speed counter but it adds expense and complexity that I don't need/ want?

Thanks,
IML-LAB

Good evening IML-LAB,

High speed counters 1 and 2 can both read hall effect traducers. In DeLogger select Signal type > Counter; Type > HSC. And in wiring select Enable options and select Low Threshold.

To calculate total volume and flow rate you should also select resetting in the options and save the counter to a channel variable.

Total volume you can calculate using a channel variable and add the new value to current value (e.g 2CV=2CV+1CV in DeLogger set the channel variable to 2 and enter the right hand side of the equation)

For the flow rate set up another channel variable and make it equal to the original value from the counter. Then select the RS channel option. This will return counts per second. Then apply a scale to your engineering units for both calculated channels.

Cheers,
Roger
