DT80 battery problem

My dataTaker unit battery cannot fully charge. Every time I charge it to 100% and a arrow and NC will come out once I remove the direct power supply, the battery drop to 44% and keep dropping.

I used it to connect to 8 thermocouple wires and the data take every 10s. The battery can last for 2 hour and 15 mins approximately. Yet, sometimes it just last 1 hours. Some might explain to me? How can i charge the battery to 100% and it can last longer?

Thanks

Hello pah8000,

How old is your battery? Has it been stored uncharged for a longer period? Have you thought of the simplest solution, i.e. just exchanging the battery?
For me this sounds just like the need for a new battery. (But actually i didn't understand the part with the arrow ...)

Cheers,
Belbis

When u charge it, it will show an up arrow. when u remove the direct power, it will show a down arrow.

I am thinking to replace a battery, Yet it is the not the fattest solution I wish to. I'm not sure how old is the machine. I took it from my university lab

Good morning pah8000,

Like all lead acid batteries they do have a finite life. One of the biggest causes of failure is people not removing the battery link when storing the DT80 for any prolonged period of time.

The reason why we chose lead acid is the characteristics are well understood and you can get a new one just about any where. Any good general battery supplier should be able to replace it.

Cheers,
Roger
