Disable Ethernet IP/ Reset to default

I have a number of DT81's that I have installed in the field logging environmental data. I have purchased a number of DT82E's for installation in the field and have programmed 1 as I did with the DT81's.

The Ethernet IP was enabled and I changed the IP address associated with DT82E from the Link-Local IP address that it possessed to a dedicated IP address. I lost communications as expected, in that I had changed the address from that that the DataLogger software had been defined to.

I was going to redefine the communication path for the DataLogger software when I realized that the Ethernet IP has been disabled. The display panel on the DT82E now showed the Ethernet IP as disabled.

I did hardware reset to regain factory defaults but the Ethernet IP remained disabled even though the factory default is enabled auto-addressing. I am now going to communicate serially through the Serial port and set the profile via this communication path, assuming that it has been reset to the factory default setting of host port to command.

I am interested in why this has happened and why the default settings are not coming back as they are supposed to.

Good morning skaar,

With a paper clip do a triple push reset (the dataTaker will display Safe Mode on the screen). Then connect to the logger and send the command FACTORYDEFAULTS. This will reset the profile settings.

Check you DO NOT have any profile commands in your code, they will restore the previous settings.

Cheers,
Roger

Roger:

Thank you. I had tried a safe mode reset before but without success. This may have been because I was referring to the "UM-0085-A7" user's manual rather than the newer "UM-0085-B2" user's manual and the description of the safe mode process is slightly different. This has solved my problem.

Good morning Skaar,

A quick tip for you. A new copy of the manual in included in the firmware upgrade. If you FTP into the logger you can download the manual.

Cheers,
Roger
