Plastic conductive transducer

Hi,

I'm using some displacement transducer 25 mm (http://www.minor-tech.com/list.asp?id=1888) conductive plastic track inside made. I think i have to connect them to my DT80 as BGI (3 wire bridge - constant current excitation), so I've put a jumper between "*" e "+", after I've connected the brown cable to "+" the blue cable at "-" and black cable at "#".

I've set internal supply as "II" option. During datalogging and with the transducer fixed at 5 mm I've seen the values oscillating 1/100 - 1/10 mm. So I've acquired internal battery Voltage and I've seen its voltage isn't really stable but oscillate around 6V (from 6V to 5,8V). What do you think about this problem?

Giovanni

Good morning Giovanni,

I just tested this out with a potentiometer ans can confirm it is working correctly. If you measure as a bridge channel type (BGI) it will return a reading between 500,000 PPM and -500,000 PPM

If you use the resistance channel type (R) then the reading will go from 500 Ohms (The value of the pot I used.) to zero at the mid point the back up to 500 Ohms. This is correct as there can't be a negative resistance.

If you want to measure as the resistance channel type then you will need to change the wiring: Brown to the *; Blue to the +; Black to the -; Link - and #

Cheers,
Roger
