energy saving

Hi,

I have a problem.

We have several systems powered by a battery and a solar panel (12v 38Ah, 50W).

The problem is that when the weather is bad, the battery lasts a few days.

How can I make good energy savings?

Best Regards

Hi Neceel,

There are 3 important factors on deciding the size of battery and solar panel:

  • solar hour in the area
  • assumable number of days without sunlight (during wet season)
  • System consumption

System consumption is governed by the logger consumption (measurement interval, the number of channels and sleep/ no sleep mode) also sensor consumption. You can check the calculation procedure for logger consumption in DT8x manual or from this spreadsheet: https://datatakerforum.com/index.php?u=/topic/857/microsoft-excel-application-for-datataker

If you want to make saving on consumption of the existing system (assuming no change in battery and solar size) the first approach would be enabling DT sleep mode.

Hi Jonathan,

You can enable sleep by changing profile parameters P15 from 0 to 3. Please check DT8x user manual version B11E on page 296.
