Connection of Strain Gauges to DT85GM data taker

Can anyone please give me an idea about how we connect three wire strain gauges to the data taker and what bridge configuration we should follow? I am using a DT85 model data taker.

If anyone can explain the basic things related to this or provide some useful links, it would be a great help as I am very new to data taker.

Thank You.

Hi SKP,

You can use simulated bridge wiring on current bridge channel. It will use only one completion resistor. Please connect the single wire of the gauge to + pin, make a jumper between * and + pin.

Then on the double wire of the gauge, one (any) must connect to - pin and the other connect to one lead of completion resistor. The other lead of completion resistor connect to # pin. Then in the logger use BGI channel.

Use the gauge resistance to buy the completion resistor (it must use the same resistance). Choose high accuracy resistor with low temperature coefficient.

Best regards,
Rudy Gunawan
