Dt80 stopped working

Hi
My DT80 series 2 just stopped responding
The sample light, disk and power lights are on but no display
It was a brand new logger (2009?) . I had updated to latest firmware.
It was working fine for about 3 weeks
Anyone got any ideas ? A hard reset has not fixed it
thanks

Hi litters95,

You are welcome, you can always test the logger using manual bootstrap entry. If the logger responds well (display is there) then it is likely the firmware issue. There are two possible causes, either part of the firmware in the EEPROM which you need to return the logger for service. Or part of the firmware from CFcard. The latter is likely because of corrupt files or sectors.

hi @litters95 ,
I am having the exact same problem, can you provide a link to the solution, the exact method?
Thank you.

Hi PaulOctopus123,

You will need to test whether the logger gives a response on the first step of the force firmware upgrade. Press the yellow key while power cycling the logger. If you see a bootstrap mode shown in the display, you can be sure it is a memory card or firmware issue.

Then after confirming, if it truly show the mode on the display, it would be best if you prepared the following:

The process:

  • Connect the adapter to your PC via a USB port, and check the Device Manager, as the adapter should be registered as a COM port.
  • Use the NULL modem cable to connect the adapter to the dataTaker host port (the RS232 port on the left side of the casing).
  • Start DeTransfer
  • Go to File – Upgrade Firmware (DT80/ DT800), press OK, and see the COM port selection. Make a selection but do not press OK yet.
  • Prepare the firmware file to a location in your PC that is easily accessible (do not put it on many subfolders).
  • Switch off the logger
  • Press the yellow key while powering the logger back, and you will see bootstrap mode on the screen.
  • Quickly go to DeTransfer and press OK; you will need to select the firmware file and press OK. You must complete the steps (within this point) in 15 seconds.
  • You will see the progress screen in DeTransfer, and the DT screen will start counting up a number.
  • Please wait until the process is completed.
