Hi PaulOctopus123,
You will need to test whether the logger gives a response on the first step of the force firmware upgrade. Press the yellow key while power cycling the logger. If you see a bootstrap mode shown in the display, you can be sure it is a memory card or firmware issue.
Then after confirming, if it truly show the mode on the display, it would be best if you prepared the following:
The process:
- Connect the adapter to your PC via a USB port, and check the Device Manager, as the adapter should be registered as a COM port.
- Use the NULL modem cable to connect the adapter to the dataTaker host port (the RS232 port on the left side of the casing).
- Start DeTransfer
- Go to File – Upgrade Firmware (DT80/ DT800), press OK, and see the COM port selection. Make a selection but do not press OK yet.
- Prepare the firmware file to a location in your PC that is easily accessible (do not put it on many subfolders).
- Switch off the logger
- Press the yellow key while powering the logger back, and you will see bootstrap mode on the screen.
- Quickly go to DeTransfer and press OK; you will need to select the firmware file and press OK. You must complete the steps (within this point) in 15 seconds.
- You will see the progress screen in DeTransfer, and the DT screen will start counting up a number.
- Please wait until the process is completed.
