Modbus Syntax

I have a wireless load cell from Straightpoint and the output is RS485. I would like to bring this into a DT80 series 2 but am having trouble. I assume this would be done as a Modbus input? I also need to know what syntax I need to use to poll the device to get the data out of it?
If anyone has any experiance with setting this connection up it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi C.Jackson,

RS485 is the electrical setting of the sensor output, while the protocol might use MODBUS or a simple ASCII. It will depend on the sensor description. Since you plan to use RS485 then you must use the green terminal at the front of the logger. The terminal location is at the digital side in which you can see Rx Tx CTS RTS and D Gnd pin on the black label.

If the sensor uses MODBUS protocol the syntax you can use is 1MODBUS(...) but if the protocol is ASCII then you must use 1SERIAL(...).

Best regards,
