Colour coding for load cell

I have DT 80. I want to connect load cell having 4 wire and 6 wire.
The colour for 4 wire load cell = red, white, black, green
The colour for 6 wire load cell = red, purple, green, yellow, black, brown.

Hi parvez,

Red and black are usually where the external voltage enters the sensor (excitation), with red as positive and black as negative polarity.
In dataTaker you need to connect to (red) and # (black), or in other words the logger provides the supply for the sensor.
For the 6-wire sensor, these red and black can be connected to the external supply but it is possible to get connected together with purple and yellow to
and # pin.

Green and white are the signal's positive and negative polarity, the signal is basically the output of the Wheatstone bridge.
In dataTaker you need to connect to + (green) and - (white).
For the 6-wire the white wire might be the brown.

The last two wires for the 6-wire are purple (+) and yellow (-). These two are for the sensing that must be connected to * (purple) and #(yellow).

Our explanation is based on experience, and since each manufacturer may have different color coding we cannot ensure the correctness of the above explanation without checking the load cell manual.

Notes: Excitation and sensing wires can share the same pin * or # as long as the polarity is similar.
