Hi Roger,
I have an installation with an S3 DT50 and a SMSX modem. The customer cannot always dial into the system. Every so often (could be once a week could be once a month) the comms link between the logger and the smsx unit seems to go awol.

The only remedy seems to be to power down and up again the SMSX and to plug in a laptop to DT50 and try to connect a few times. The connection d

Hi there,

I'm going through the manual "Using the SMSX modem with DT800 range of dataTaker data loggers." When entering and executing the following:

SINGLEPUSH BEGIN RX DELAY=2000 REFT(=1CV,NR) DO{[/h/Z/r/e/m]} DO"ET-SMS=0|Logger Temp ?1F1 DegC|P0|30^M" END G
I should be able to send "X" to the logger, and get some data in return. The only thing I get is:

While recording CAN SPN data on a Freightliner Cascadia J1939 bus I get expected reading for a while, then the SPN reads 0xFF for a few frames.

After it will read normal for a while then read 0xFF. Does anyone know what causes this? I use the same equipment and program on a Mack truck and the data reads normal all the time.

Hi Roger,

I have upgraded the firmware of DT81 Series 2 (Sr. No. 086321) to latest version. But when connected to PC, the PC is detecting as USB Serial Converter unlike new DT82E when connected, opens the Explorer and we can do programming using dEX software.

Please give us your inputs to rectify this problem.

Regards,
Stephen

Dear all,

I'm currently in the process of connecting a Solartron DC50 LVDT to a dataTaker DT80G for some linear displacement measurements.

Here's what I've found out so far, do correct me if I'm wrong about any of these information:

DT80G will only tolerate LVDT outputs of +/- 2.5 VDC?

The output of the excitation terminals on DT80G are +/- 4.5V?

We are new to Datatakers and are trying to get a SDI12 device to work on a new DT82E. The command SDI12SEND 4 "0!" (or any address or command) returns "no response".

An oscilloscope on 4D confirmed output, but the transitions were present for about 300 ms rather than the 20 or 30 ms needed to send the break and the two characters The data being output at the SDI12 port was...{ Break 0!0!0! )

Recently I was out in the field recording data and then i came back to retrieve the data off of DT80. When I connected dataTaker back to the computer, dEX program informed me that there is no data to retrieve since there is currently no job present.

Somehow during the travel between the two location all of the data and program stored on the logger has been erased. My question is what might

Hello,

I tried to use the mentioned DUMP_DBD but I've a problem/ question I need help with: DUMP_DBD rounds my decimal numbers in the .dbd file to 1 decimal even though My Windows Regional Setting state that 9 decimals should be used (e.g. 0.000000001).

Here is an example output in comparison:

Hi all,

I've a DT80 Series2 (with firmware 8.08.0001) and I've a problem with the DT FTP Server. I've tried two different FTP clients (winscp and scriptftp) and the result is the same, the ftp client reaches the DT80, go to the given path but doesn't find the DBD file.

I've also debug the FTP process (with P56=8) and all seems ok, but when the client tries to get the file the connection

Hi everyone,

We have a DT85 that we use on remote locations. At this point we have it set up to measure and log data on a USB stick for a certain period, after which we go pick it up to retrieve the data.

In first instance, we would like to be able to see the data that has already been logged. We were thinking about putting a PC (which is connected to the internet) next to DT85 and have

Hi Roger,

I asked your help in logging weather data for a wind turbine back in May. Now I would like to add serial functionality to send this data to a microcontroller and receive the value of the turbines speed in return.

The returned value should be also be displayed as "main shaft speed" on the LCD screen I have tried to use the following code to achieve this but as yet no luck. I ca

Hello again,

I'm working on a project where the client wants an always active Ethernet connection, but without access to AC power. (Different project to the last one).

This is a weather station, which will be logging every five minutes, but I'd like if possible to also have the wind speed sensor do three second rolling gust calculations as shown in the FAQ example.

Is it possible to use scaling factors for currents? I'm reading in eight different current loops from a DT85, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to output my data in the proper units.

There's an example in the manual that suggests I can use scaling just as I would with voltage, but wouldn't that cause it to be read as an external shunt resistance?

Thanks.

We just bought a DT80M and CANGate. To test the CANGate, I put together a one-row schedule in Delogger and downloaded it to the logger.

Unfortunately, Delogger's "Errors" window keeps saying "Serial sensor scan error at control position 13". The RS232 Rx & Tx lights do blink on the CANGate, so something is happening. And while the configured message is not on the CAN bus (my CAN msgs are

I flew down to another one of my companies section as they were having a problem with a DT80 setup there and that the agent that installed it cannot fix it.

It consists of the DT80 connected to a computer Via USB. The computer has an application written with LabView that draws graphs from the information from the datataker. The problem I saw was that the application was not comm

Hello all,

I'm in the process of trying to set up a program that reads in pressures and resistances. It has digital inputs that trigger counters. It also has an alarm that triggers when the test goes out of a certain resistance range for a certain amount of time.

Basically, I only want the resistance alarm to trigger once during the entire test (not every time it makes a false-true tran

Hi,

I have a RS232 sensor, I must send a 11 11 72 65 61 6C 2C 0D 00 (Hex) to sensor, because I couldn't type "Device Control 1 (oft. XON)" and "carriage return (CR)" in ASCII, 11 in Hex is "Device Control 1(oft. XON)",0D is "carriage return (CR)", 72 65 61 6C 2C 0D is real.

Because this, I can only send it with hex as the above. I have test it use my computer's RS232 port, and it works.

I have a DT80 series 2 which I need to drive 8 relays with the digital outputs upon alarms. There is no problem with 1-4 DSO but I have tried to use 5-8 DSO with as suggested in the manual a transistor wired into the circuit.

The following is the result i get, the relay continues to switch on then off every time the DT80 samples. If the alarm conditions are meet the relay functions

Hi,

I have to reprogram a DT80 with ver7 SW remotely, I won't be there so are going to send up the new program on a USB stick in a oninsert.dxc file in the root.

What I need to happen is that the new job replace the existing and become the default job on reset/ power cycle.

Many Thanks,

Will this work:

Hello,

I have a DT80 that I have been using to take voltage measurements. I set the polling rate to be 5 milliseconds. For about a week or so, I had been able to collect my data at that rate.

Since then, however, it has been collecting at a slower rate. I didn't notice anything odd in my set-up between the period of good rate and the period of bad. I've also tried a factory reset with n

Hi,

I want to use DT82E for data acquisition. My sensor support SDI-12 v.1.3 and have two registers set for aM! & aC! commands. Needed data returned only with aM9! command, but your logger uses aC! command as default. How can I switch it to use aM!?

Thanks in advance.

We are having what seems like the same trouble with two DT80's running Version 8.08.0001. It seems as though once they have been set to use Auto IP addressing, we can't get them set back to a static IP.

One was running fine with a static IP, either communicating using telnet by Ethernet to a terminal emulator program on my PC or communicating by serial port.

It reported temperatures all
