Hi,
I solved a problem on communication between DT80g (and likely also other DTx) and Linux OS using standard serial terminal. You can send text commands and receive output in the same way as with DeTransfer or in dEX command window but conveniently from Linux environment. This solution was tested on Ubuntu 16.04 but should work on other Linux-based systems as well. Here are the details.

Hi,
Has anyone have experience on retrieving readings from DataTaker using Matlab?
I have open the ethernet port using the following:
t=tcpip('....IP ADDRESS...',7700)
fopen(t)
I have no idea how to continue when comes to retrieving the readings in MODBUS.
In the DT program, I have defined the following
1MODBUS(AD2,R3:29,=1..10CV) %Address 2, starting address 3000, regis

hi,
i am trying to upload my logged data direct to a USB. upon inserting the USB drive the datataker displays "reading USB" but does not begin writing.
i have read in the manual that you must have a file on the USB called ONINSERT.DXC
i have not found any information on how to create this file or where to find it on the supplied disk.
any assistance would be appreciated as i ha

Hi,
We have recently purchased a DT82I for use with an industrial coater. The coater sends strings of real time parameters which are forwarded through a RS232 port to a dot matrix printer. I was hoping to use the datalogger to retain a digital copy on a usb and then send the print command to the dot matrix printer. Since both printer and coater communicate only over RS232 I was planning on co
Hi,
I'm running a program to read and record values from an PT-100 RTD and a MODBUS device. The problem is, the resistance value of the PT-100 isn't read properly by the dataTaker. If I run the PT-100 program alone, there is no issue about the reading. But once the MODBUS device is connected to the sensor port, and the program runs together, the resistance values of the PT-100 increases by m
Hi,
I'm using the DT82I for logging current and voltage values from a current monitoring device. I've used around 170 CV's to log and display the data, in addition to individual labels. The data has also been collected without any problem.
The problem is that the last 10-15Cv's seem to have no label/name. I'm running similar programs on 2 separate DT82I's, and both have the same problem.
Hi,
We've got a DT82I running 24/7 at a remote site. The program is meant to retain some CV's to be used as reference for the next day.
But, I've noticed that my DT82I sometimes doesn't seem to retain those values. Upon checking, we found that the DT82I displays the "DT80 restarted / Power loss" message every morning. But we have it running on an UPS, so I doubt power supply is an issue.
Hi,
I have a dt800 which i wish to connect a number of energy meters to. the energy meters have a pulse output of 100p/kWh. my intention is to use a counter channel on the dt800 to accept the pulse output from the meters and also send this reading to a channel variable. within another channel variable i intended to scale the input by the simple equation 1CV=2CV/100 which should give me kWh. i
Hi,
I'm trying to do manual data downloads via a 2 GB USB stick. However, every time I insert the USB stick, the logger runs into SW Exception error.
I have the latest 9.20.8942 firmware with a DT82I Series 3. The error I'm getting is Reset 9.20.8942 EXCEPTION (c8610007).
Is there a way to fix this issue? I need to resolve this ASAP as I will be deploying these into the field shortly.

Hi, I am using datataker DT82I series 4. Previously, I was using deLogger but wanted to try out dEX.
I have connected the datataker to my computer via Ethernet cable and load dEX via on Mozilla Firefox (v61). When I create any schedule or add any calculations and try to type in the values, there is a lag. The characters appear on the screen 5-8 seconds later. It's so frustrating when I need to
Hi,
Does anyone have experience using JBUS with Datataker? I appreciate if you can share your experience. I read that JBUS is similar to MODBUS except for the adressing. I found it is NOT true. Any comments?
Recently we received 2 of the DataTaker loggers.
The one I am writing about is the DT82I.
My manager recently received a firmware update that allowed the ability to setup security for separate log in's.
He was try to configure the device and ran out of time so I took over.
During my interaction with this device I have had it lock up several times and quite honestly had to pull the bat
Hi,
When there is no DNS server, the DT generate it's own IP adress 169.254.xxx.xxx. Is there any way we can use the key on the DT to change this address? I feel this way is easier than changing the computer's address to match DT's subnet. Any feed back is appreciated.

need to log GPS NEMA data. anyone got code ?
Hello!
I currently transferring files eveary 30 min, with ftp protocol to my pc via DDNS ( with no-ip ). But i have notice that after a while DT800 blocks the transfers. The way i have to resolve is to make singlepush to DT800 and then the problem is gone. But i dont like to do that all the time.
Debuging DT800 while the problem is present, i check that i can still connect via TCP/IP, port
Hello,
I have set up a current-excited bridge (BGI) circuit for a DT800 to measure the strain across five quarter-bridges on a channel pair, as shown in the attachment. The problem I am having is that I do not know what scaling factor to use to convert the incoming ppm signal to microstrain for each measurement. In addition, I am not always running all five bridges, which I assume changes the

My DT800 has suddenly started giving me incorrect outputs around 10% low. Inputs are 6 LVDT and 1 PT100 temperature probe, all the used channels are incorrect. LVDT typically over a scaled 30mm range reads around 28.4mm and the PT100 reads around 95°C for an actual temperature of 106°C, and the outputs are not stable. Software is a customised version of DE logger written specifically for
I have to use GPS18x 5Hz for some position/speed measurements. Want to use DT800 serial channel for that.
I am sure some years ago (ie in the old forum) there was some discussion on this topic, with programming sample(s).
I am writing a short program using NMEA sentences, but must be doing something wrong for have no joy!!!!!!!
Would anyone have any relevant information, please???

Hello,
I am trying to use ICP type of Accelerometer with Datataker DT800.
For this I need 4mA constant current supply continuously from Datataker.
However, datataker does not supply (or I couldn't adjust it) current continuously. It excites when it measures.
Is there any way to supply current without break?
Thanks

Hi,
Could you please help me in connecting a 18-33vdc / 24 vac differential pressure transducer (3 wire) to DT 800?
The out put signal would be 0-10v.
I am a new user of datalogger, without knowing the analog input signal range (max 13v) have ordered the differential pressure transducer and i am desperate as i am reaching my project deadline.
Thanks,
Gowthm.
Hello.
This is my first post in the new forum. The question is that sometimes the datataker leds stop flashing and the Ethernet connection with the computer breaks. I thought that it could be a power failure, but I measured power voltage and it is correct.
The datataker is only externally powered (internal battery is disconnected), so I don't know if this is a sleep mode. After some tim
G'day Team,
Hope you can give me a quick pointer.
I have a serial scale sensor sending me back a weight in format "ST,GS 2.450kg"
So I am using the serial expression builder in an attempt to get the 2.45 out.
1SERIAL(RS232,"\eST,GS%f[5CV]kg")
Works like a charm getting me 2.5 (seems to round the decimal part up)
So I am trying a formatted float

Hi,
In the DT800 Manual, you suggest:
"4-Wire BGV Inputs
Use voltage-excited bridge (BGV) configurations only when the bridge is close to the DT800
(BGI configurations are usually preferred)."
Can you say what it is you clarify as "close to the DT800" and is there any way to compensate for the extra resistance in the wire if its say 25 meters from bridge to DataTaker?
Cheers
Hi Team,
I have a series 1 DT800 (i think, has no USB port), is there any way to update the firmware to that of the series 2 so to be able to use the DEX interface?
I cant afford a new DT800 at this stage but would love to have the DEX system.
Cheers

Hi everybody,

Hello,
I am currently troubleshooting a DT800 with multiple analog and digital sensors connected to it to monitor a residence. The analog sensors in question are several thermocouples and a RH sensor.
The issue we have is that the datalogger will report unreasonably high 15 min. data for several of the sensors simultaneously and then go back after an hour or so (sometimes randomly) to repo

On page 173 of our manual I see the Shared-Terminal 3 wire resistance inputs on one channel (the lower left illustration) does not show that the wires between the resistance element and the common point need to be short.
However, based on the illustration to the right of it, I think these wires should be kept short and this is just an omission. Should these wires be marked with an "S" as the

Hi guys,
I'm using a DT800 with delogger5 to take measurements from 16 thermocouples and using the digital output to control a solid-state relay.
The problem is that when I unload the data after logging for 5s say at 1s intervals I typically have twice as many entries as expected and the timestamp for the entries does not make sense. It appears to have logged data for longer than I would h
